Mrs. Ching-Bush is James College's wonderful RHD. Her efforts to enhance the college community are great and her commitment is inspiring. She is a nice, caring person, and wants to let the college know that if anybody ever wants to chat, or introduce themself, to just stop bye while she's in her office.

Interview

。。

What is your background? High school? College?

HS=James I O'Neil High School in Highland Falls NY.

College = Rockland Community College = Associates in Lib Arts

Adelphi University Bachelors of Science and Masters of Social Work

What led you to become an RHD?

I enjoyed working with the age group and wanted a break from the emotional ties of social work. Being an RHD allowed me to use my social work skills, my recreational interests, my teaching background, and allowed me to work in a diverse environment.

What is the RHD's role in building the James College community?

To give guidance, promote, community, adjudicate problematic issues, minor counseling, address maintenance issues, supervise staff, promote any initiative the building department is implementing and assist with the individuals in the building in growing for their journey outside the college environment and much, much more.

What are your future goals for James College and professionally?

James College changes year to year, semester to semester. Depending on the dynamics of the population and what the building wants to do will determine the buildings activities. I hope James remains a great community service provider, an outlet for great students leaders, and a community where people are respectful to one another.

What kinds of things do you do when not busy with RHD duties? Hobbies?

I like watching and participating in sports. Working out when capable, and writing (haven't been so inspired recently.)

What can you tell us about the child you're expecting in January?

My daughter was born on January 11th at 1:54 pm. Elleana Leigh Bush was 4 pounds 5 ounces , 17 inches with black hair and brown eyes. She is the first child for myself and my husband. She is Puerto Rican, Chinese, Polish, Irish, and German - a very interesting combination. It will be fun to see how she develops and grows in a college community. I would also like to thank all the great residents to helped me throughout my pregnancy- you know who you all are!! :) I never had to lift anything or bend down for anything EVER!!

o'neill alum coaching at houston u.

Kevin Lewis begins his second season as the senior assistant coach at the University of Houston, where he coaches the Cougar post players and assists with recruiting. Last season, Lewis helped lead Houston to 18 wins and its third straight winning season for the first time since 1992-93. The Cougars also enjoyed their highest Conference USA finish in both the regular season and conference tournament.

Lewis came to Houston after serving nine years as an assistant coach at TCU, Baylor and New Mexico. He coached four seasons at TCU, where he helped guide the Horned Frogs to the quarterfinals of the 2004 NIT with a 21-14 record. It was TCU's first 20-win season and postseason tournament appearance since 1999.

He went to TCU after spending three seasons as an assistant coach at Baylor from 1999-2002 and one year as an assistant coach at New Mexico in 1998-99.

Before joining the collegiate coaching ranks, Lewis spent eight years as a high school coach in Houston. He served six years as the head coach at Episcopal High School and two seasons as the head coach at the Homeschool Christian Youth Association (HCYA), a program for students who are home-schooled.

While he was at Episcopal, his teams won back-to-back Southwest Preparatory Conference titles in 1995 and 1996. In addition several of his players went on to play at the Division I level, including Ben Echols, who he also coached at Baylor in 1999-2000.

Lewis began his coaching career after he earned All-Southwest Conference honors as a senior forward at SMU in 1985-86.

He was a four-year letterman at SMU, and helped lead the Ponies to an 85-40 record and three postseason tournament appearances. The Mustangs played in the 1984 and 1985 NCAA Tournament, along with the 1986 NIT during his playing career.

Lewis received First-Team All-SWC honors and was named SMU's MVP as a senior after averaging 18.6 points per game. He ended his collegiate career with 1,026 points and 413 rebounds in 111 games. He started 67 games for the Mustangs, and graduated from SMU in 1986 with a degree in psychology.

Following his collegiate career, Lewis was drafted by the San Antonio Spurs in the sixth round of the 1986 NBA Draft. He played professionally with Hobart and Melbourne in Australia during the 1986-87 season. After returning from Australia, Lewis spent time with the Dallas Mavericks before a five-month stint traveling with the Harlem Magicians.

Born November 6, 1964, Lewis was born in Cornwall, N.Y. and attended high school in Highland Falls, N.Y. He and his wife, Veronica, have three children: Kelvin, who is a sophomore guard at Houston, Kalvin and Kaillyn.
